I hope people will read my story and the purpose that I have in writing
this letter. I hope that my dream would eventually materialize through
the efforts of those who truly care. Thank You.
————————————————————– I am
Andre, a 20 year old college student living in Manila, Philippines. I am
a typical Filipino guy; average stature, tanned to bronze complexion and
very malay looking. My hobbies include reading books, poetry, movies,
theater and music. I am definitely an old soul trying to fit in and find
connections with the things that nurtures our creative abilities. I am
also into sports; gymnastics and swimming are my favorites. Things are
going on the way I planned, good education in college, organizations and
clubs that suit my interest and most importantly, a support group
composed of family and friends that cares and understands the
difficulties I am going through. I am living a simple and happy life
then, with no worries and inhibitions that hinder my self growth. I am
definitely contented with what I am experiencing, and I have no clue
that one day the sun will turn its back on my fate. When I entered my
first year in college, I noticed a small red spot on my upper left
cheekbone. I thought it was only a pimple and it is very normal for
adolescents like me so I shrugged it off and left it alone. Weeks passed
and that small pimple began to multiply around my face. First circling
around my cheeks and on some parts of my forehead. I became worried so I
went to seek professional medical help. She prescribed a few
antiobiotics and a skin cleanser that is suited for my sensitive skin.
This, I suppose, will help me get rid off my pimples. I used
everything given to me as directed, hoping that the cane would fade away
eventually. Unfortunately, the acne worsens and covered a large area of
my face and upper back. During this worsening crisis that I stopped
taking my regular visits to the doctor because of lack of money. My
father lost his job and my mother was the only one working to send me
and my three brothers to school. I cannot buy anymore my medications
because it was really expensive on my part and the extra money I have
must be saved tto help finance my college education. Because of the
severe acne I am experiencing, I began to lose my self confidence.
Usually when I go to school, I would cover my face with a big towel for
people not to see my deformity. In class, I would sit at the back
portion because I do not want my classmates to notice my face. I
secluded myself from people fearing they would ridicule me and make
unnecessary remarks that would make me feel ashamed of myself. In the
morning, I would avoid looking at myself in the mirror. I do not want to
see my face because I would just be demoralized more.I lost the dignity
and delight that each day brings, giving a bad feeling for me whenever I
wake up. In short, I am now living with an ackward feeling inside me.
I am lost and more depressed because I cannot see any improvements on my
appearance. I have lots of negative feelings inside that I wanted to be
alone all the time. I do not enjoy the company of my friends anymore
mainly because I lost that inner drive to continue on and live a happy
and normal life. I wrote this letter mainly because I want to appeal
to those who are willing to understand my condition. I am a young
dreamer who just wanted to be free and enjoy the blessings of nature. I
want to go back to being a normal person spared from the rirdule and
mockery of insensitive people. Lastly, I want to start a new life and
bring back the bright outlook and perspective that I once had. I want
to reach a lot of people so that they would have better understanding of
what I am going through right now. I believe that there are still people
willing to share the with the lives that their fellow brothers are
experiencing. Being selfless and sensitive to what is going on around
you is a special virtue, it is what makes people HUMAN. I want to be
straight forward with my reason. I am asking people to help cover the
expenses related to my medications and treatments. I can assure you that
this is not something I made up in order to extract money from other
people. I am a good person and very honest to the people who can earn my
trust. I value the trust that people give me because it is an important
aspect in creating meaningful and holistic relationships. To sum it all
up, I just want to point out the most important thing that people must
remember in dealing with their everyday lives… We must all regard
Justice as the most important quality that a person must have; because
it is thru justice that we learn to love and show respect to other
people. Recently, one good guy (let us just call him Mr X) gave me a
small amount to start my treatment. I was very happy because there are
still a lot of good people who are willing to help and extend their
resources. He sent me money thru Western Union and from that I started
my treatment for severe acne. I know it is a long road to wellness, but
I guess what Mr X has done to me is something that I would cherish and
ponder on for the rest of my life. I am APPEALING to those who have
generous hearts and enough resources to share to those who need your
help. I am only asking small amounts of money to help cover my medicines
and treatment. Even a small contribution would be gladly appreciated
because I believe that people must be thankful for those who give
willingly. You can donate your extra $20, $50 or $100 perhaps. I do
not mind really how small or big you want to share with me because the
THOUGHT of helping undermines it all. The willingness to share is what
really matters and not the amount you will give. From this moment on,
I would like to THANK EVERYONE who took time to read my simple story. I
hope that thru this story you can help build a new life that I can only
dream about as of today.

This is something that happened to us on the way back from vacation
last
spring. I didn’t think much of it until now. The reason we were a
little
suspicious is we had been riding in a jeep all day with 100 degrees
temps and we stopped at a truck stop for something to drink.

When I was leaving, a young girl followed me out and asked what kind
of
cologne I was wearing. Well, after 7 hours in the car sweating, I
don’t
think you could tell I was or was not wearing any cologne. We just
got
in the jeep and said no thanks.

Then it was about 3 weeks ago, I was at a service station in
Birmingham
getting gas. It was about 9:30 PM. I was approached by 2 men and 2
women
in a car. The man that was driving asked me ‘What kind of perfume do
you
wear?’ I was a bit confused and I asked him ‘Why?’ He said, We are
selling some name brand perfumes, at cheap prices.’ I said I had no
money.

He then reached out of the car and handed me paper that was
laminated;
it had many perfumes on it. I looked quickly at it and gave it back.
I
said, I have no money. He said it is OK, we take check, cash, or
credit
cards. Then the people in the car began to laugh..

I just got in my car and said no thanks. Then I received this e-mail
yesterday and it sent chills up my spine.

Please read this. It is no joke. Here is the e-mail I was sent-

Dear Friends:

I know not all of you are women that I am sending this to, but am
hoping
you will share this with your wives, daughters, mothers, sisters,
etc.
Our world seems to be getting crazier by the day. Pipe bombs in
mailboxes and sickos in parking lots with perfume. Be careful. I was
approached yesterday afternoon around 5:30 PM in the Walmart parking
by
two males asking what kind of perfume I was wearing.

Then they asked if I’d like to sample some fabulous scent they were
willing to sell me at a very reasonable rate. I probably would have
agreed had I not received an e-mail warning of a "Wanna smell this
neat
perfume?" scam.

The men continued to stand between parked cars, I guess to wait for
someone else to hit on. I stopped a lady going towards them, pointing
at
them and told her about how I was sent an e-mail at work about
someone
walking up to you at the malls or in parking lots and asking you to
SNIFF PERFUME that they are selling at a cheap price.

THIS IS NOT PERFUME…IT IS ETHER!

When you sniff it, you’ll pass out. They’ll take your wallet, your
valuables and heaven k knows what else. If it were not for this e-
mail,
I probably would have sniffed the ‘perfume’ but thanks to the
generosity
of an e-mailing friend, I was spared whatever might have happened to
me.

I wanted to do the same for you. PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL YOUR
WOMEN FRIENDS AND PLEASE BE ALERT AND BE AWARE. IF YOU ARE A MAN AND
RECEIVE THIS, PASS IT ON TO YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS.

Ladies, this happened to me yesterday and I didn’t smell the perfume
either, thanks to this email. This is true. Believe me, I know. I was
over by Big Lots in the parking lot at lunch time when I was
approached.

So either day or night, it does not matter. There were 3 guys
together
when I was approached. I called the police when I got back to my
desk.
Like the email says above, LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS - YOUR
FRIENDS,
FAMILY, COWORKERS, whomever. It helped me. The first thing that
popped
into my head was this e-mail

I am currently facing the same problems like everyone
here. I am currently using Retin-A Gel for two weeks now and have
seen some improvements to my skin. However, it tends to leave it very
dry to the point my skin is peeling off. For those who have used this
product is this normal? or should I decrease the amount of times I
use it per week. I used to have lots of cystic acne however, due to
the Retin-A it has healed them and no longer are swollen. For those
out there who have used this product. Please share with me your
stories and any tips you might have.

Acne is a common problem among teens, and doesn’t always clear up by adulthood. There are considerable problems that can occur with both teen and adult acne, and treatments to counteract both.

Recognizing what is causing the acne is an essential part of curing it, but recognizing what doesn’t cause acne can be just as important. Through the years, many myths have passed down about what causes acne, and they have caused ill-formed perceptions.

This article covers some of those myths and perceptions, and will dispel the misconceptions associated with those myths.

It is a myth that getting a tan can help clear up acne. Even though a tan may help cover the redness caused by acne, it won’t actually heal or prevent it. Add to that the risks associated with tanning beds and the sun, and the skin damage that can occur, and this may hurt more than it will help.

It is also believed that eating greasy, fried foods, or consuming chocolate can cause acne. Numerous scientific studies have concluded there is no connection between acne and one’s diet.

It is also a myth that the more you wash your face, the fewer breakouts you will experience. While washing your face gets rid of oil and excess dirt, and removes dry skin, washing your face too often can remove some of the essential oils, therefore, causing your face to become especially dry and irritated. While this won’t directly cause acne, it will continue to irritate, which will keep it from healing. By not over washing your face, you are allowing the body’s natural oils to work, at the same time removing dirt and dead skin which can clog pores and cause acne.

Another common acne myth is that popping pimples will help them clear up more quickly. While this can make the pimple seem less noticeable,
it can actually make the healing process a longer one. This is because popping a pimple can push the bacteria from it deeper into the skin, making the surrounding area red and irritated. Devices designed to help pop your pimples, such as blackhead extractors, aren’t safe either, as they can cause scars to form.

Another myth is you can’t wear makeup or shave if you want to have clear skin. If you have acne, it is okay to use products that are noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic, which means they won’t clog pores and cause breakouts. Some concealers now have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in them, and, will, therefore, help fight acne.

There are many other myths associated with acne and what causes it. It is important to understand what really is causing your acne before you will be able to treat it. Consult a dermatologist if you are unsure about possible causes and treatments, or if you feel your acne may require medical attention.
